The Prosecutor's Office of Kabardino-Balkaria has begun checking the quality of services provided to tourists in the region.
The verification was required due to the fact that on May 22, four tourists requested the help of rescuers to descend from the eastern peak of Elbrus in Kabardino-Balkaria. On request, 11 rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation went. During the descent of the group, the weather deteriorated sharply, as a result of which communication with the rescuers was lost. An additional 14 employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations came to the rescue.
“According to the results of the audit, a legal assessment will be given to the actions of officials and other persons responsible for the provision of tourism services that do not meet the requirements of safety of life and health”, – Interfax quotes one of its interlocutors from the prosecutor's office of Kabardino-Balkaria.
Currently, the rescue operation has been completed, there are no victims. An additional own check is carried out by the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the KBR.
