An expert spoke about new trends in youth tourism

In her speech, Olga Yukanova said that today's youth have a growing demand for “unique experiences” and “meaningful activities” while traveling, the opportunity to “do something of their own.” Also, young tourists are increasingly focused on self-realization, acquiring new skills and knowledge, self-development.

This is confirmed by the data of global surveys. The demand for more “meaningfulness of activity” is especially observed among people under 30 years old. According to surveys by Question The Quo, EMC Group, Tallo and others, 85% of young people in developed countries believe that professional success is possible only if the work is truly exciting, 67% are ready to sacrifice high incomes in favor of interesting activities , and 61% believe that training should be strictly practical.

According to the expert, these trends are also observed in the preferences of Russian youth. Young participants of the “More than a Journey” program aged 18 to 30 are increasingly choosing tours in Russia related to environmental, social orientation, territory design, acquaintance with innovations and modern technologies.

“According to the results of the first season of the “More than a Journey” program, we observe a high interest among young people in the useful educational program of our tours, during which travelers create a tangible product, gain new knowledge and competencies. A lot of positive feedback from our participants received travel, including lectures, master classes, trainings with the participation of representatives of authorities, business and the expert community, aimed at developing new practical skills”, – said the head of the program “More than journey”.

Olga Yukanova recalled that the program “More than a Journey” was created to encourage the winners, finalists and the most active participants in competitions and projects of the presidential platform “Russia – a country of opportunities” and the Russian society “Knowledge”. Participants are encouraged in the form of a tourist trip around Russia, during which they undergo educational and useful programs, gain new competencies and skills.

Among other trends in the tourism of modern travelers, which Olga Yukanova noted in her speech to the forum participants, – a shift in the interests of the tourist when planning a vacation from the “direction” for travel to its “content”.

In recent years, when planning a trip, it has become important for tourists not to choose the direction for the trip, but its content. It also increases the importance of the social and environmental responsibility of the tourist in relation to the territory where the trip takes place and the people who live there. This trend is most noticeable in the case of
with tourists from megacities, primarily from Moscow and St. Petersburg. We observe similar trends in the behavior of travelers who go on trips around Russia under our program. We see the dynamics in the fact that young people are increasingly making their choice based on the content of our tour programs. Of greatest interest are tours with an eco-oriented approach, visiting the country's leading industrial enterprises, various innovation centers and art spaces, where our participants can try on new social roles, realize themselves in an important public cause, make efforts in an important public cause, or even try learn a new profession
”, noted by Olga Yukanovain his speech at the Eurasia Global forum.

Among the thematic areas of the tours from “More than a trip” are such tracks as – “Innovation and Industry”, “Science and Education”, “Sustainable Development and Ecology ”, “Business and Entrepreneurship”.

During trips under the “More than a Journey” program, participants visit innovative industrial facilities, undergo internships and internships at enterprises of the country, participate in volunteer, patriotic events, develop their own projects with the subsequent introduction of best practices in organizations, participate in lectures and conferences with representatives of scientific and business communities.

In total, since September 2021, more than 50,000 participants in the Russia – Land of Opportunities projects have received invitations to tour the country under the “More than a Journey” program, of which trips around Russia have already departed more than 25,000 people, more than half are participants aged 18 to 25.
