How inflation in Turkey affected the quality of “all inclusive”. Changes in hotels that catch the eye. June 2022

Hello friends. Today I would like to share with you very briefly our observations regarding the changes in Turkish hotels operating on the all-inclusive and ultra all-inclusive systems, which are associated with a very significant inflation in Turkey in 2022.

Gasoline in Antalya, as of June 1, 2022, costs more than 27 lira! And a year ago we refueled at 9 lira per liter. This is just a side note to gauge the scale of inflation in Turkey…

What has changed in hotels?

In 2022, my friend, a travel agent, and I visited more than 5 hotels with an inspection (which we visited last year) and saw a certain trend in their adaptation to current price realities.

Where is the change most noticeable?

Noticeable changes have taken place only in mid-range hotels. Luxury hotels keep the concept as before, they just raised prices a lot. Cheap ones have also slightly adjusted prices upwards, while the quality of food and service has remained at the same level (precooked foods and chicken cannot be replaced by anything).

What are they saving on?

For starters, I’ll say that if you have nothing to compare with, then you definitely won’t notice any negative points, let alone “deterioration in the quality of rest”. The big popular five-star hotels in Turkey hold their own and will definitely not risk their reputation for the sake of saving one season. Here everyone plays for a long time, so the savings are very targeted.

Here's what I noticed:

< li class="article-render__block article-render__block_li" data-points="5">Hotels that used to have seafood for dinner almost every night have now switched to a theme night format. Those. once a week – fish day, once a week – Turkish cuisine, once a week – international, etc.

Seafood Evening in

  • Bottled beer in hotels is now rare. Although many still left it. But given how quickly the price of it is rising in Turkey, I think it's not for long.
  • Most hotels have switched to locally produced alcohol. But, firstly, not in all positions, and, secondly, it is of good quality. And in cocktails it is not noticeable at all.

  • Some hotels have removed free access to a la carte restaurants.
  • Some hotels have stopped restocking the minibar in the room. Now it is filled only once upon check-in.

  • Dessert quality has dropped significantly here and there. But on certain days of the week they do not save on desserts. It's the same with seafood. Sometimes, but not every day.

But during the day < ul class="article-render__block article-render__block_ul">

  • Water park hours have been drastically reduced. They turn it on literally for an hour or two in the morning and then again after dinner. You really need to be successful. And this item is the MOST noticeable. -kachestve-vse-vkljucheno-izmenenija-v-oteljah-kotorye-brosajutsja-v-glaza-ijun-2022-431fd13.jpg” alt=”How inflation in Turkey affected the quality of all-inclusive. Otherwise, everything remained the same, and something even improved significantly (I will write about improvements in a separate article). For example, this year (probably also to save money) many hotels recruited staff from the CIS countries, so now Russian-speaking employees work almost everywhere.

Well, if in general, then this season holidays in Turkey FINALLY returned to their normal format, which we missed for two years. I wish it was a little cheaper…
